Big voices call on the Prime Minister to Help save 20 million lives
Today scientists, athletes, business leaders and malaria champions are calling on the Prime Minister in an open letter to help save 20 million lives. With a bold pledge at tomorrow’s Global Fund's 7th Replenishment, we can end three of the world’s biggest killers – AIDS, TB & malaria. It’s time to Fight For What Counts.
Dear Prime Minister,
You said you would make Britain safer and stronger.
You said you'd ensure Britain continued to lead in the world.
You promised to support our allies and emerging democracies.
You have committed to reducing the threat of disease.
You said you would support women and girls to succeed.
You promised to stand up for the world's most vulnerable.
Well, on 21st September you have the opportunity to keep those promises and build on the good work of all your recent predecessors. By renewing Britain's pledge to the Global Fund to fight Aids, TB and Malaria, you will make people everywhere safer - helping to turn the tide on three of the biggest killers in human history. The UK's leadership against these diseases has helped to save over 44 million lives since 2001 - if we maintain this leadership, we can help to save another 20 million people. But if we step back there is a real risk that we will slide backwards and lose the opportunity to beat these diseases for good. When Britain leads, the world succeeds. That's Britain back at its best.
Yours sincerely,
