National Interfaith Week: 20-26 November 2011
National Interfaith Week 2011 takes place across England, Wales and Northern Ireland from Sunday 20 to Saturday 26 November. Interfaith Week is now in its third year and seeks to highlight and enable greater interaction between people of different faith backgrounds.
To celebrate National Interfaith Week, Malaria No More UK has put together some practical resources to equip your faith community to get involved in exciting interfaith activity whilst making a difference as you unite behind a common cause – to make malaria no more.
Local faith communities are united globally by their shared values of respect, justice and compassion to build a better world. They play a vital role in raising awareness of health and development issues, including malaria at all levels of society. Here’s your chance to get involved…
Faith & Film

We are inviting you to organise an interfaith evening of thought provoking cinema and dialogue whilst helping to save lives from malaria in Ghana. The event model couldn’t be easier! All you need to do is select an inspiring film, find a suitable venue for screening the movie and ask your interfaith audience to make a donation to Malaria No More UK in exchange for an evening of entertainment. We have put together a practical, step-by-step guide to help you organise your event and you can download it for FREE now!
What’s more, Malaria No More UK is part of The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2011. This means if you donate the money raised from your Faith & Film event online between 5– 9 December, your donation has the potential to be doubled. So if your Faith & Film night raised £100 and you donate the money online via The Big Give during the Challenge Week, Malaria No More UK could receive £200.
1.4 Billion Reasons

1.4 Billion Reasons is a ground breaking presentation created by the Global Poverty Project which explains how we can put an end to global poverty. It’s already been watched by over 100,000 people worldwide and takes the audience on a journey to explore what it means to live in extreme poverty, barriers to progress including malaria and practical steps to get involved and help save lives.
Charlotte and Usman, Faiths Act Fellows at Malaria No More UK have teamed up with the Global Poverty Project to create an interfaith version of 1.4 Billion Reasons, highlighting the vital role of faith groups in fighting global poverty. Charlotte and Usman are now offering faith groups, universities and schools across the UK the opportunity to host this multimedia presentation during Interfaith Week and beyond. Islamic New Year’s Resolutions

The Islamic New Year 1433 is likely to begin on 26 November 2011, coinciding with the end of the National Interfaith Week. To mark this important date in the Islamic calendar, we are creating an exciting new year’s resolution campaign called ‘Believe. Resolve. Act.’ and you have the opportunity to get involved!
Faith leaders and young people of different faiths share their new year’s resolutions and commit to making the world a better place for everyone. You can watch their inspiring messages at facebook.com/fightingmalaria. We’d love to hear your own resolutions so why not add your voice to the campaign and upload your own video message.
