I’ve seen and felt the impact of malaria in many different ways. Personally, I last suffered from the disease in 2009 when I spent a week in hospital. The physical pain and discomfort was hard enough but what made it incredibly tough was to be separated from my twin girls who were 10 years old. Thank goodness my family live close by and could take good care of them. I was also fortunate to be near a hospital, for some in Namibia that journey is hundreds of kilometres and takes a week by foot, so simply not possible. Now I work
The physical pain & discomfort was hard enough but what made it incredibly tough was to be separated from my twin girls
as a Malaria Agent in my community, giving out mosquito nets along with practical guidance on important steps to stay protected against malaria. I am overjoyed to hear Namibia is working to be malaria free in the next few years and happy to play my part to make it happen.
