GhanaQueen Mother Mana Afua Fionkobei
Community figurehead Mana is married to the Chief of Apenten Village and known as the ‘Queen Mother’. We caught up with Queen Mother Mana after her ‘Malaria Advocate’ training session where she joined other local leaders in Ghana to learn more about how malaria education helps save lives.

Nets were given out to protect people from malaria including Mana’s community – she is planning to lead by example and said: “If the Queen Mother uses a net then everyone should use one… it is important for me to play my role in driving this net campaign.”
Mana is now using her position to raise awareness about the importance of nets and other simple ways to prevent malaria. She was especially eager to speak with families with young
