Earlier this year United Airlines launched its first ever service from the US to Accra in Ghana. To mark the addition of this new destination, the airline has embarked upon a global partnership with Malaria No More – most recently this has seen more than £3,000 being raised through a charity raffle and silent auction in aid of Malaria No More UK.

Marcel Fuchs, Managing Director for Sales, Europe, Middle East, Africa and India, was delighted at the success of the fundraiser and said: “Our charity raffle was a great opportunity for United Airlines staff to come together and support Malaria No More UK. It’s wonderful to know that all funds raised will be invested in malaria prevention and control programmes on the ground in Africa.”

The money raised by United Airlines is enough to buy, hang and deliver 600 bed nets, with each net potentially protecting two people from catching malaria for up to five years.

United Airlines has already worked closely with Malaria No More in the US, and in June 2010 flew 1,500 bed nets to Ghana on its inaugural flight. You can read more about the partnership here
