Congratulations to Team Malaria No More: New York City Marathon Runners

On Sunday 7th November, a team of 50 marathon runners took on the race of their lives to help make malaria no more. As they pounded the streets of New York’s five boroughs alongside 43,000 other runners, they were spurred on by the knowledge that they had already raised a mind-blowing $150,000 collectively. What an achievement!

In Africa, malaria kills more children under five than any other single disease. This tragedy is all greater as malaria is entirely preventable and treatable. Malaria No More UK is committed to ending the suffering and death caused by malaria by 2015. We can do it but we need your help.

Ghana players Ambassadors for both African football and the fight against malaria

Ghana’s heroic achievement in becoming only the third African team to reach the quarter finals of the World Cup is not only a triumph for African football but also for the fight against malaria on the continent. The Ghana Football Association has been one of the strongest supporters of the United Against Malaria (UAM) campaign in the months leading up to the World Cup. When not making history on the pitch, the national squad has been actively involved promoting action to consign malaria to history in Africa.

It has been announced that the “Celebrate Africa—The Grand Finale Concert” in Johannesburg on 9 July 2010 will be organised in support of United Against Malaria. The Concert aims to help generate further support and awareness in the fight against malaria. The Concert will feature the multi-award winning Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli and special guests including the celebrated Canadian singer/songwriter Bryan Adams, and South Africa’s own soprano sensation, Pretty Yende.

British tennis champion Andy Murray stars in a new advert for Malaria No More UK to raise funds to help save lives in Africa. The advert sees the World’s No.4 ranked player on court and building up for a big serve but he is missing a vital ingredient – a net. Andy goes on to perform a series of rarely seen tricks while he waits for a net to highlight the need for nets as vital tools to stop the spread of malaria in Africa.
