Buzz from Stephen Webster mosquito ring continues
1 CommentsLuxury jeweller’s mosquito rings will be back in time for Christmas to raise awareness of malaria among UK travellers and help save lives.

Stephen Webster’s limited edition mosquito rings, which sold out in just 10 hours, are back by popular demand and will go on sale again exclusively on ASOS.com from 1 December.
The rings, as worn on Victoria Beckham, were originally commissioned by the Malaria Awareness Campaign to highlight the serious issue of malaria among UK travellers, whilst raising funds for charity Malaria No More UK. Following the success of the initial collection, ASOS has decided to purchase an additional 300 rings from Stephen Webster.
Professor Larry Goodyer, spokesperson for the Malaria Awareness Campaign says: ‘The sale of the rings created a real buzz for the Malaria Awareness Campaign. We hope that UK travellers follow our recommendations and seek travel health advice before going abroad.’
Stephen Webster comments: ‘We are overwhelmed by the success of the limited edition rings. Along with the sale of this second round of rings on ASOS, we can continue in helping to raise even more awareness of the risks to Brits visiting malaria hotspots. It’s great to be involved in a cause where jewellery can really make a difference, and in this case, the money from the rings will be saving lives.’
Sarah Kline, Executive Director of Malaria No More UK says: “We would like to thank the Malaria Awareness Campaign for commissioning these rings and greatly helping our cause. We’re thrilled the mosquito ring has already been such a hit and thanks to its rapid sell out we can buy nets and save lives in Botswana. This project is part of a global effort to ensure every person in Africa has access to a mosquito net by the end of 2010, and now Stephen’s producing a further 300 rings in time for Christmas, even more people can buy a ring and help take us one step closer to making malaria no more”.
300 additional replica rings will go on sale exclusively through online fashion retailer ASOS.com (www.ASOS.com) from 1 December. Shoppers can choose from two designs: 150 black rhodium or 150 brushed silver, both with crystal encrusted wings. The rings will retail at £50 each with all profits from the sale of the rings going to Malaria No More UK.
Webster’s original, one-of-a-kind fine jewel mosquito ring is on sale now and will be sold to the highest private bidder with anticipated retail price of £15K and all proceeds going to Malaria No More UK. The striking piece is fashioned in rhodium plated 18ct white gold set with ruby cabochons, white diamond pave wings, a silver diamond tail and a black diamond band.
The proceeds from the sale of the first 300 rings will help fund Malaria No More UK’s first investment in Africa. The project is in Botswana, southern central Africa, where three quarters of the population is at risk of malaria. Thanks to those who bought a ring, life saving nets will be given out to households who do not yet have one.
