The UK government has published its new Malaria Framework for Results: “Breaking the Cycle: Saving Lives and Protecting the Future” outlining the strategic approach that will guide UKaid spending in the fight against malaria. There has never been a more important opportunity to invest in malaria: both to sustain the historic progress made this year and drive towards the 2015 goal of near zero malaria deaths.

Gavin and Stacey Star, Ruth Jones is hitting our TV screens tonight with her very own festive chat show – Ruth Jones’s Christmas Cracker. MPs have warned that the success of a recent UN Summit intended to boost efforts to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) now rests on countries sticking to their promises on aid and development. A new report by the International Development Committee says that the UN needs to clearly set out each country’s responsibilities with timelines in order to get the MDGs back on track.

A new net is hung up by MNM UK supported malaria volunteers in Namibia

The WHO World Malaria Report 2010 launched today reports a 20% decline in malaria related deaths between 2000 and 2009. In eleven African countries, the malaria burden has dropped by more than 50% over this same time period.

Congratulations to Stacey Solomon on being crowned Queen of the Jungle in this year’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me out Of Here! Stacey and Shaun Ryder were the last two celebrities voted to stay in camp for a final showdown.
