Congratulations to NetsforLife® who have received the Global Business Coalition Excellence in Business Action Award for outstanding Partnership and Collective Action. Malaria No More UK supported the NetsforLife® programme in Ghana where 17,000 volunteers were trained to educate their communities on malaria and deliver nets to the families. Recently almost one million nets were delivered to around 600,000 families as part of this project. These nets will help to protect around two million people from catching malaria for five years. Our next investment, in Namibia, is also being implemented by NetsforLife®.

The Sun has announced that its first ever World Cup Single will benefit charities Malaria No More UK and Help for Heroes. Footballing legend Terry Venables is the new voice on the classic Elvis track ‘If I Can Dream’ and launched the single yesterday in spectacular style with a world first performance on top of the iconic O2 arena with the London’s Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and a professional choir.

Eleven of Africa’s major football federations commit to help kick malaria out of Central and Eastern Africa

African Heads of State and leaders in the malaria community met to discuss new funding; a multinational bulk mosquito net order; and plans for reductions in taxes and tariffs on malaria control interventions.

I flew out to Ghana on Thursday and travelled up to the Tamale Region early on Friday morning to meet with some of the people who will benefit from our recent investment in Ghana. The funds for this investment came from money raised during last year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! phone votes as well as donations directly to Malaria No More UK from supporters.
