Victoria Beckham
In September 2009, fresh from New York Fashion Week and arriving at Heathrow airport, Victoria Beckham wore Stephen Webster’s mosquito ring. Webster, famed for his originality and exquisite, cutting edge designs created the piece to raise awareness and funds for in the fight against malaria.
After Victoria was spotted wearing one, the 670 limited edition rings were sold on ASOS.com in record time. The money raised from the ring sales was invested in Botswana.
“It’s fantastic that Malaria No More UK’s first fashion piece has created such positive results. As a mother of three children I find it deeply saddening that women and children are still the most vulnerable and susceptible to malaria in Africa. I was thrilled to hear that this project has helped buy more mosquito nets in Botswana, protecting 13,000 people and their families and communities from malaria.”
