Terry Venables

Footballing legend Terry Venables was the new voice on the classic Elvis track ‘If I Can Dream’ on The Sun’s first ever World Cup single.

The single was launched on 20 May 2010 in spectacular style with a world first performance on top of the iconic O2 arena with the London’s Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. It was a message to inspire and lift the hopes of the nation as the England team took part in the FIFA World Cup. Malaria No More UK and Help for Heroes were the recipient charities from sales of the single and we will use the funds to help save lives in Ghana.

Venables at the single launch:

“Being the first performer ever allowed to sing from the top of the O2 is an incredible and exciting honour – what better way to show our support for the England boys as they head off to South Africa? What’s even more exciting is that today we can announce that we are releasing ‘If I Can Dream’ in support of two brilliant charities – Help for Heroes, who do fantastic work for brave injured servicemen here in the UK, and Malaria No More UK, who are helping save lives in Africa from malaria, a totally preventable disease”
